Annual Grass Reminder
For those tenants who are responsible for mowing their grass…this is your annual REMINDER. Please keep your yards mowed and free of trash. If your grass gets over 8 inches tall, you are likely to receive a Code Compliance violation notice from the city. Failure to respond to the notice, can results in fines. Thanks for your help in this matter. It makes us all feel better when we come home to a nice looking yard.

TENANT REFERRALS
Current tenants will receive a $15.00 “FINDERS FEE” when you refer an applicant. If you do refer someone to us, please have them mention your name or you can call us to let us know who will be calling. You will receive $15.00 if the person(s):

1. Completes the application.
2. Is approved by us.
3. Signs a lease.

Shawnee County Landlord Association (SCLA)

The SCLA is a very active association for landlords. We are proud to say that we are members. The SCLA, in response to the proposed rental licensing and to counteract “slumlords” has adopted 10 practices which, if followed, will ensure that the landlords are following sound, fair guidelines when interacting with tenants and applicants. We are very pleased to pass on that we were meeting the requirements 100% PRIOR to the adoption of the guidelines. As such, we will be identified among the first group of BLUE RIBBON landlords in Shawnee County. The list of BLUE RIBBON landlords will be provided to local housing agencies.

Pest Control vs. Cleanliness

Several units have had a problem with bugs, particularly roaches. Following are the points all should be aware of.

*The quickest way to get rid of roaches and bugs is good sanitation in your home.

*Do not leave dirty dishes, empty cans, trash or garbage sitting around.

*Clean your floors, cabinets and pick up clutter.

*Roaches can be brought into the house in groceries, clothes, boxes & even appliances (small and large).

*Be mindful of things that are bought at garage sales.

*Items stored in damp places, sheds, storage areas & basements attract roaches.
